Cognitive screening in Marietta with Cognivue Thrive is now available. Hearing loss has been linked to declining cognitive function. Since hearing loss is the #1 modifiable risk factor for dementia we are excited to add the Cognivue Thrive computer cognitive testing device to our office.
A Simple Cognitive Screening To Evaluate Cognitive Performance
The Cognivue Thrive provides a simple test of cognitive performance in about five minutes. This allows us to test domains and parameters that are key to overall performance at any age.
A Simple Test Of Cognitive Performance
VThis simple test can be performed in just five minutes. This will allow us to test three cognitive domains; visuospatial, executive function, and memory. The two performance parameters are processing speed and reaction time. When completed the test produces simple, easy to understand scores that allow for us to interpret and discuss your specific results.
Cognivue Thrive Is Proven In Clinical Studies
VOne of the biggest factors for us deciding to add cognitive screening in Marietta with the Cognivue Thrive computer is that it has been compared with traditional cognitive tests in hundreds of patients. In it’s FDA clearance study, Cognivue was validated against the St. Louis University Mental Status (SLUMS) cognitive test which is the reference standard.
VIn the FDA- clearance study, Cognivue showed the following:
- Good agreement with SLUMS
- Superior test-retest reliability vs SLUMS
- Good psychometric validity
This tool can help us help you change the course of your cognitive decline.
Hearing Loss Is Potentially The Largest Modifiable Risk Factor For Dementia 1
In fact, when we intervene to preserve our patient’s hearing in mid-life, they have the opportunity to reduce dementia risk by as much as 9%.1 That’s because preserving hearing increases the cognitive brain reserve, a core dementia-prevention strategy.1
